Local
Boy Vows
"Just Five More Minutes, Mom"

Encino, CA -- Local boy, Adam
Stern, a second grader at Jefferson Elementary School, promised his mother
that he will go to bed immediately after watching just five more minutes
of television.
"I’m very worried," admits
Adam’s mother, Linda, an English teacher at the local high school. "We
go through this every night. He promises me that he will go to bed if
I let him watch just five more minutes of TV. After the five minutes are
up he begs me for five minutes more. I don’t know what kind of child I’m
raising."
Mrs. Stern expressed concern
that Adam may grow up and continue exhibiting this deceiving and dishonest
behavior. Though Adam is doing well in school and with his peers, those
close to him fear that this type of behavior is indicative of a more serious
problem.
Child psychologist, Howard
Felder agrees: "though it seems harmless now, misleading parents from
an early age, such as in Adam’s case, can lead to delinquent behavior
if left untreated." As to avoid the aforementioned possibility of delinquent
behavior, the Sterns have decided to prohibit Adam from accessing the
television entirely, thus ensuring themselves a healthy, happy and prospective
contributor to society.
